Bruny island info wanted.

Postby Sultan Peppersquid » Tue Nov 25, 2014 7:54 pm

Hey fishos and fishettes.
The minister for war and finances and myself are going to Bruny for a week at the start of February.
We will be taking the 'yaks.
What fishing opportunities are on the cards down there at that time of year?
Should I be happy with flathead and squid to eat (she loves flathead) and some salmon for fun, or should I take some heavier gear to chase???

Haven't been there for 35 years. Never fished there. Any advice appreciated.

Take the yaks over to Cloudy Bay Lagoon...Bream, Salmon & Flattys. Otherwise if you love the bream try Captn Cook Creek at Adventure Bay which will also be good for the yaks

Caught them up to 38cm in the creek but seen some bigger as well...Lots and lots of small ones but also caught two blackback salmon and seen a couple of large jumping mullet which I am thinking are the sea or chub mullet... Very large eels also in there and heard from an older local that there are sea run trout in there as well... up behind the caravan park the creek thins out but then as you go up higher it breaks out into large circular ponds with the creek running between them...

Might have to take the fly rod and have a crack at those mullet I reckon.
Really looking forward to the holiday. :)
