I was wondering if anyone has had any success with the saltwater recently? we are having some good days weatherwise and the thought of hooking some fresh fish to devour is appealing, cheers

There are still a few flathead about down South Arm, Betsy Island and near Cremorne. We have had to work pretty hard for them lately but are still managing to get a feed okay. As you can see, we are having to look around a bit more for them than just heading out to our usual haunt in front of my house at South Arm. Best bait by far is a thin strip of squid with a small piece of Bluebait as well Still a few whiting in the mix as well. Added bonus today was watching 3 humpback whales just out from Cremorne while trying our luck there.
It didn't get away - I just let him go earlier than I wanted to

Flathead were on the chew last wknd at the top end of adventure bay, good size and two at a time! One rod, 30 minutes and about 20 fish, most 35cm plus sandy flats.

Heaps of school sized SBT south of Friars last couple weeks, no trouble catching bag.

Need to get out wide to test the deep stuff. Shelf often fishes well this time of year.

Winter is great when the eeather allows
