Thought I might chuck up a few recent pics.
Plenty of land based action, as the banks of our local rivers have been producing of late. If you get lazy you can head out in the boat and work the same banks without the hassle of walking.

Sometimes anglers emulated the tide by doing a bit of dropping of their own. This is Nicko seconds after dropping a nice one in the shallows. I had the camera ready after seeing the take but was waiting for him to land the thing before taking a shot.

I decided to follow suit and managed to "cut this youngen from the herd"
(hook point and barb cut off with pliers and shank turned back on its self to avoid unwanted hook up)
Although I didnt land him, he did go for some funny 30m runs on a very light drag.

When the tides arent right for an after work estuary session. Its time to chase Vic metro's premier fresh water sports fish.

Getting them to suck in the lure isnt the problem - its striking before they spit it out that does my head in.
Striking away and to the side of the direction they are travelling, half a second after their lips shoot out over the lure, seems to do the trick.
But landing them on light leaders from an elevated position involves alot of scrambling and repositioning before you can get close enough to dispatch them

Thanks for putting them up yellow door, a great story with some nice fish and top shots. Can't believe that gulp boat! I guess someone had to do it.
I presume you are sight-fishing for the carp? (Why else would you bother
). But seriously, I have fished for them a little and found them to be awesome fun. Do you fish fly at all?
will
