IFS stocking

Postby Fish-Master » Thu Dec 17, 2009 6:27 pm

How long does it take the IFS to update their data base when they stock a water?
Just seen on the news they have stocked Craigbourne, Bradys and an un named lake, but their is no info on the ifs site.

Is there another site (news letter) where I can view up to date stocking?

Cheers,
FM

You can signup for a newsletter on their website....

http://www.ifs.tas.gov.au/ifs/

I'm not sure if there is a right answer but I can understand them delaying the release of information when stock waterways.....

Thanks Pat,
I fully understand where you are coming from, we don't want all the hillbilly's poaching the waterways.

A while ago a newspaper reported upcoming Atlantic Salmon stockings and people were giving the fish a a caining 5 mins out of the truck and catching them with landing nets at Brushy at least. I think they let word of mouth go for a while and at let them disperse a bit before the official internet statement. First time I have seen it on the news though.

The stockings go up on the site when I get the data on my desk. We do not let people know before or during the stocking events for the due to peoples over enthusiasm. STill havent been given the numbers for yesterdays stockings, they should be up on the site in a couple of hours.
cheers,
Tim

The info is up on the IFS site now. Bugger there will be plenty of boats to put the rising fish down now at Meadow Banks :( , for a few weeks anyway.
